Questions
Before you scan
Is the scan free?
Yes. A scan is free — no card. You run it from a free account, so the report is saved for you. Paste your domain and you get the full source list in about 2 minutes.
Does this show what ChatGPT says about my brand?
Not directly. Spotlit runs its own AI model with live web search and asks it the buying questions in your category. That is the same basic way AI search tools build answers — search first, then answer from what they found — so the pages it surfaces are the kind those tools lean on. It does not log into ChatGPT, Perplexity or any other app.
How accurate is it?
Every URL in your report came from a live web search, not from a model's memory. What varies is the answer itself: AI responses aren't fixed, so a re-scan next week may surface a slightly different mix of sources. The report records the questions and date so you can compare fairly.
Who is Spotlit for?
SEO and content agencies that need to explain AI visibility to clients, and marketing teams who want to know why a competitor keeps getting recommended instead of them.
Why does the report lead with other people's websites?
Because that is where the answer comes from. AI builds category answers mostly from review sites, roundups and forums, and far less from vendor sites. Your own domain is often the least influential page in your own category.
My brand is new — will I show up at all?
Probably not yet, and that is still useful. A list of the pages AI reads for your category is a concrete list of places to get onto, which beats a score you can't act on.
What do I do with a low score?
Work the worklist from the top. It is ranked by how often AI cites each page, so the first entry — a review profile, a roundup, a directory — is where one placement is most likely to help. Then re-scan and compare.
